The Regretful Thief
By Rohan Mathew
In the dead of night, my steps were sly,
A shadow, masked by darkness, I did pry,
Forced by desperate hunger, I stole and fled,
In a mood of darkness, my fate was led.
But now, remorse grips my troubled soul,
As I'm hunted by karma, a heavy toll,
Regret gnaws at my heart, a bitter sting,
For the path of thievery, a tainted thing.
I took what wasn't mine, a wrongful act,
My conscience now torments, a haunting fact,
The stolen treasure, a burden I bear,
Its weight on my shoulders, a constant scare.
Oh, the darkness that shrouds my weary heart,
As I wander aimless, torn apart,
Seeking redemption, a chance to atone,
For the sins I committed, to karma, I'm prone.
I yearn for forgiveness, a chance to make right,
To undo the wrongs, and find the light,
But my past haunts me, a relentless chase,
A thief's regret, a never-ending race.
So, I plead to the heavens, for mercy and grace,
To break free from this never-ending chase,
To find solace in redemption's embrace,
And let go of the darkness, in this remorseful place.
