The Reckless Hunt

Birds sang songs as they were happy,

Owls made sounds which were quite creepy,

Peacocks danced on the beat of rain,

Freely flew the tall-thin cranes,

Honey bees stayed happy with their honey,

Monkeys made faces so funny,

Merrily hoped the cute bunnies,

Unlike the lifeless dummies,

Lakhs of fishes swam in a single river,

Peacefully lived the innocent beaver,

Caves were inhabited by giant bears,

Leopards ran everywhere freely without any fear,

Lions roared in the woods so loud

That produced shivers in the animals’ crowd,

For them it was such a treat

To eat the deer’s meat.

This was when humans considered animals their beloved friends

But as everything changes with time, so do the humans changed just like the fashion trends,

We humans lost our wisdom

So only, we are taking away these innocent creatures’ freedom,

We became so selfish that we are thinking only for our development

By sentencing these animals lifetime imprisonment,

Freely, the animals don’t even take a single breath

In today’s world ’cause of the hunters threat,

Every day I see my dear friends lying dead

And beauty of grasslands and forests being marred by the bloodshed,

For reaching our destination, we humans are using a staircase,

Every single step of which is nothing but a carcase,

Where these animals deserved beautiful vineyards

And look what they got, not even burial in graveyards,

It hurts me when these calves, cubs, fawns and many kids become parentless,

Witnessing their tears made me think, “Why we turned so merciless?”

Where lost the essence of the word ‘humanity’?

Why are we slaughtering innocent animals cruelly? Why this insanity?

After all, when there will be no animals, it’s us who will bear their absence’s brunt.

Let us think wisely, let us be humane, let us stop this reckless hunt.
