The Rain Ballad
By Apoorva Bajpai
After a long, long time,
I sat admiring the rain for an hour or two.
With a sweet, sweet melody from a guitar strumming
and a piano playing in the distance
as perfect background score,
I just watched the raindrops
splish and splash on the concrete floor
and occasionally grazing my cheeks,
collectively dancing to the set choreographed by the wind
with numerous trees gently swaying to the beats
just being the best background dancers,
intermittently subjected to the enthusiastic applause of their denizens.
I sat admiring the rain for an hour or two.
I imagined swaying with the rain for an hour or two.
