The Rain

Rain; Lovely, cool rain,

Pattering on my window pane,

Oh! Such a good time to be sane!

For we are rid of the heat’s pain!

The trees wave in the wind,

Peacocks dance with their kin

The sky is cloudy and gray,

Goodbye, hot May!

A man seeks shelter under a peepul,

While someone else in a steeple,

Enjoying water fall from heaven,

On my joyous gang of eleven

Now, the soil is damp and wet,

On which two frogs play a duet

Ahead them is a wall,

Where moss grows greener than the forests of Senegal!

Now, at last, the rain ceases,

But, the cool never decreases

Not until the return of May,

Oh! Do I dread that day!
