The Portrait Of A Mother

Updated: Aug 28

By Archana Samanta

I gaze and gaze at the white pristine canvas

So, pure, immaculate, a token of holiness

I fall in trance.

I paint and paint your eyelash

So kind, endearing as if placid rays of a candle flashed on us.

I drag and drag my brush put words on your lips

To redeem my faith

To be swayed with terrestrial bliss.

I forage and forage my hues, to design a halo around your face,

I illumine my Goddess. How shimmering you are!

O my mother! Gently I embrace.
