Anaya loved pink more than anything in the world. Her clothes were pink, her room was pink, and even her school bag had tiny pink flowers on it. One afternoon, after a long day at school, Anaya fell asleep on her bed. Soon, she entered the strangest dream she had ever seen.
She was standing in front of a magnificent pink castle. Everything around her was pink. There were pink houses with sparkling windows, pink cars moving along shiny roads, pink shops filled with colorful decorations, and markets overflowing with pink candies. Even the cloud for her.
Anaya walked toward the castle gates. They opened by themselves with a gentle creak. Inside, she found a huge room filled with beautiful boxes. There were several large boxes arranged in a row. Most of them were filled with delicious pink candies, but one box was different. It glowed with a strange golden light.
Anaya slowly opened it and gasped. Hundreds of tiny fairies were sitting inside, their wings sparkling like stars.
One fairy flew toward Anaya and smiled.
“Welcome, Anaya,” she said. “I have something special for you.”
The fairy waved her wand, and a small pile of books appeared in Anaya’s hands.
“I am giving you these books,” the fairy explained. “But you must promise me something. Do not read anything in the second book.”
Anaya looked at the fairy curiously. “Why not?”
The fairy’s smile disappeared.
“Just promise me.”
Anaya nodded. “I promise.”
That night, still inside her dream, Anaya carefully placed the books on a shelf in the castle. She went to sleep, wondering what could possibly be hidden inside the forbidden book.
The next morning, Anaya woke up and immediately checked the shelf.
The books were gone.
She searched under the bed, behind the curtains, inside cupboards, and even beneath the castle’s enormous pink table. Nothing.
Then she remembered the fairy box.
Anaya hurried back to the room and opened the glowing box. The fairies were still there, but the books were lying beside them.
Before she could touch them, she heard a familiar voice.
“Wake up! Wake up! It is time for school!”
Anaya opened her eyes.
Her mother was standing beside her bed.
For a moment, Anaya stared at her in confusion. Then she remembered everything.
The castle was a dream.
She sighed and got ready for school.
While Anaya was eating breakfast, rain suddenly began pouring outside. The windows rattled as the wind pushed against them. Anaya looked outside and smiled.
“Mommy! It is raining!”
Her mother came from the kitchen. “Yes, I can see that.”
“Does that mean I do not have to go to school?”
Her mother laughed. “It looks like school has been cancelled today.”
Anaya jumped happily from her chair.
“It is a holiday!”
After breakfast, Anaya expected to spend the day at home. Instead, her mother walked into the room with an excited expression.
“Get ready,” she said.
“For what?”
“We are going somewhere.”
“Where?”
“Somewhere abroad.”
Anaya’s eyes widened. “Abroad? Really?”
Her mother nodded. “You will find out soon.”
Anaya spent the rest of the day packing clothes, choosing her favorite pink things, and imagining all the places they might visit. She was especially excited because she had never travelled abroad before.
That evening, while they were finishing dinner, a message arrived from Anaya’s school. It announced that the students would have a holiday because of the weather.
Anaya smiled. “So I get an extra holiday!”
Her mother smiled back. “Looks like it.”
Soon, their bags were packed, their tickets were ready, and they left for the airport. Anaya watched the rainy city disappear behind the car window.
After a long journey, they finally reached their destination.
Anaya stepped outside and froze.
In front of her stood a magnificent pink castle.
Her mouth fell open.
The towers, windows, gates, and walls were exactly like the ones from her dream.
“Mommy,” she whispered, “I have seen this place before.”
Her mother looked at her strangely. “Have you?”
Anaya slowly walked toward the castle. Everything was familiar. The pink houses nearby. The candy market. The sparkling road. Even the tiny decorations hanging from the windows.
Then she saw a large box near the entrance.
Her heart began beating faster.
She opened it.
Inside were the same books from her dream.
Anaya picked up the first book. Then she saw the second.
She remembered the fairy’s warning.
Do not read anything in the second book.
Anaya held it tightly.
Suddenly, the castle doors opened.
A tiny fairy flew out.
It was the same fairy from her dream.
Anaya stared at her.
The fairy smiled.
“You came back,” she whispered.
Anaya looked around nervously. “But this was only a dream!”
The fairy shook her head.
“No, Anaya. Your dream was actually a memory.”
Anaya’s eyes widened.
“A memory of what?”
The fairy pointed toward the castle.
“Of the day you were chosen.”
Anaya took a step backward.
“Chosen for what?”
The fairy smiled mysteriously.
“To become the next guardian of the Pink World.”
Anaya stared at the castle, unable to speak.
Then the second book suddenly opened by itself.
A bright pink light burst from its pages.
Anaya screamed.
Her mother rushed toward her.
“Anaya! What happened?”
Anaya blinked.
She was sitting at the dinner table.
Her mother was beside her.
The castle was gone.
The fairy was gone.
The books were gone.
Anaya looked around in confusion.
Her mother smiled.
“You fell asleep during dinner.”
Anaya sighed with relief.
Then she noticed something on the table.
A tiny pink book was lying beside her plate.
She slowly opened it.
On the first page were three words:
Welcome back, Guardian.
Anaya smiled.
Then the book whispered her name.
And that was when Anaya realized that her adventure had only just begun. Outside, the rain stopped, and every cloud in the sky turned bright pink again.
