The Painful Call
By Mehul Soni
I was in hospital this morning and I saw her. Doctor was dressing her wound and she shouted in pain. I couldn't see it, neither could I stop thinking about it. I had to come to work today but for what ? I took out my work diary and start writing –
I am speechless, without a thought about what to write.
I feel so bad, so hurt, so helpless, that i feel no might.
Tears shed from my eyes and I try not to cry.
Helpless again, I decide not to pry.
I am at work and i try to concentrate.
Yet my brain and heart continue to perpetrate.
How is she and how does she hold so long ?
Where did this cry come from in this beautiful song ?
I stand there when she cries in pain.
With her every howl, my heart shouts again.
“Please God, shift our place !
This princess isn’t meant for this – she deserves a beautiful palace !”
I miss the beautiful smile – that amplifies her beauty.
This cry and pain in her life – has no duty.
Take them away and swathe her in the robe of happiness.
Give her everything she ever wishes for, O God, Take away all scrappiness.
Sometimes as a kid, when i wondered about the purpose of my life,
I always knew - it isn’t to crunch number, make money, or just have a kid and wife.
It was to kill the villain and save the world,
Now that i have grown up - I realise - She is my real true world.
Her pain and agony is the villain and I swear I will kill it for good,
Happiness has to come out now - Abandoning its hood.
I will build her the castle that I have always prayed for,
O God, give me the strength to achieve what i have dared for.
Bless her God - as she never placed a foot wrong,
She walked on the righteous path, and you hit her like a gong.
If this is you I abandon my faith in God !
Or else, give her what she deserves, in the name of Lord !
I stand by her side and will never let her fall.
But please do me a favour when you shred the next painful call.
Take me as the one whom you swear to grind.
Spare this little beautiful flower - She has taken a lot of wind.
I will hold on to whatever you put me through.
I will keep her happy, I swear to you !
Give me strength to keep her high,
So that never ever in her life, she pours out such painful cry.
I love you and I will keep loving you.
With tears in my eyes and pain in my heart, I swear to you !
I will build you that castle one day where you will see only good.
There wont be a single pillar, which will be crude.
You will be smiling again in joy and glory,
Your laughter will make me bloom, and I tell our grand kids, this story.
How I lived my twenties, thirties, forties, fifties and sixties for you,
How I became your Christopher Robin and you became my sweet little Pooh.
