The Only Evidence To My Existence
By Neelofer
Round and round and round, it moves in perfect circles,
In a flinch of an eye,
You’d think you missed a perfect moment of stillness,
The crackling, noise making fan on the top of my head is the only evidence to my existence,
Much like the nothingness of it all.
The blank stares carve a picture of you,
So bright and so clear, it almost stares right back at me.
The moving curtains give away the secrets of a the window pane that keeps collecting dust and memories alike,
The sunrise hurts the eye as much as it hurts the reflection of a body that hasn’t moved in hours,
The sound of life seems like a shout-out to the demon inside.
It tries ever so hard to awaken a part that’s been asleep for what seems like a lifetime.
The music playing within these walls is the only heartbeat that keeps the dead alive.
It makes us move in complete harmony,
Us - You and Me,
Moving in perfect circles,
Oh we do it so well,
Your hands swiftly moving over my waist,
My feet following yours,
We complete a circle,
Just to start all over again - like the crackling, noise making fan on the top of my head.
The fan mimics my days, lived in perfect circles that do not lead to you.
