The Nights

The stars glimmered brighter

Than they would the rest of fortnight

For the moon was away, a charmer,

And it was their night to shine

As mystery spread its cloak

The night went on a hunt;

For hearts so naive,

And he picked out the runts

The night cast a spell ;

The darker, the more intense;

That made the clueless hearts dwell

In the realm of pretense

The hearts not muddled

Were the ones senile;

For heart is a night’s fool

Enlightened as time flies .
