The Next Dance
By Mukut Deepak
A torrential rainfall
A cloudburst
A wailing sound
That pierced barriers
I flew through you
Into you
And beyond you
Caressing your swirling plains
Creating crevasses
With ravaging fury
Carving and moulding
Canoodling and cajoling
Tracing till lines ran out
Tasting till my tongue went numb
Rolling and rollicking
Frolicking with flailing arms
Conquering to lose
Losing to conquer
Dancing to a beat
That none heard but us
A sound that throbbed
Rocked us
Calmed us
Shattered our surroundings
Melted our myths
Exonerated our souls
Quenched our innards
Cradled our hearts
A beat that you didn’t miss
One that I never scored
Yet we both moved
And were moved by it
You twirled your dress
Sashayed your form
Firm and supple
Warm and wet
Sensuous and shy
Famished and ravishing
Giving and greedy
Just and firm
Divine and carnal
I saw you in flesh
Felt you on me
Etched beyond the skin
In the crevice of the cranium
Or rather cocooned in the cradle of heart
Philistine that I am
Nihilist to the core
I sweep clean my crevices
Expunging my heart
With the vitriol of my thoughts
I can trace the curve of your mouth
The contortion of your lips
The pucker dances
You annihilate me
As you inhale
Lost in your undulations
I conquered new peaks
Scaled new fears
Birthed new desires
Crooned new sensations
And coddled new songs
As the surge ran amok
And we jostled in a tango
Limb to a limb
Rivers on rivers
Of sweat and fluids
Awash with sensations
Desires and emotions
Breathless yet bestowed with all the bestiality of the world
Rancorous yet joyful
Violent yet still
Unsettled yet at home
Thieves yet masters
Slaves yet queens and kings
Of the moments that lapsed
Of the swaying of the cradle
Of the swooning of the minds
Of the walloping of the hearts
You stood a tad apart
Wondering and reminiscing
Thrilled and scared
Desirous and daunted
Draped in black
That lassoed your form
Threatening to spill
Yet held in sway by your bosom
Accentuating and hiding
Like a well-versed friend
It commanded
Only to surrender
As we stepped into the carnal dance
I tasted you
Tormented and vandalised
With aggression and care
With zeal and compassion
You melted
Your curves dissolved
Became privy to my commands
My piety had a new prisoner
We hoed and hummed
Tossed and turned
Scorched and salved
Touched and teased
Tickled and vandalised
Like an epic
With its own invisible destination
We cavorted like prisoners of flesh
Salivated till we were satiated
Devoured till we were distended
Bit and marked
Bruised and battered
Each move a stanza
To the unending crescendo
I can still feel your flesh
The skin that draped it
The caverns that were concealed
The fingers that were intertwined
The strands of hair that stretched from me to you
The moves we made
The rhythm we danced to
The songs we shared
Are all etched in my couplets
That swirl in my head
And keep me alive
Awake to your sights
Your smells and your tastes
To your curves and your limbs
My fingers are still wet with your touch
The tongue still tingles with your taste
Skin still singes with your heat
My limbs seek yours
I will tug on this invisible cord
That holds you a prisoner
On the wee side of this glass panel
Pulling you through
As glass shards fall apart
And melt in my heat of desire
My fugitive friend
Spare the futile battle
Cave in to your soul
Let the strings tug you
Till you can stay still no more
Dissolve your apparition
Replace it with living cells
Oozing with flesh and blood
Let me hold you in my palms
Savour you
Have a fill
That satiates my soul
So,
Are you ready?
For the next dance ...
