The Moon Knows We Are In Love.

The moon knows we are in love.

Now as we both lay on the slightly wet grass, side to side facing each other. I looked at his face and find myself calming down. I trace my fingers around his face, grazing through his hair which was slightly gleaming in the moonlight.

"I read something in a story once, 'the moon knows we are in love'."

I look over at him smiling. the moon's glow reflecting in his eyes like snow in a snow globe.

Eyes still on the moon he says, "that's pretty."

I was about to turn my head back to the sky when he said,

"I think the stars envy our love."

"Why?" I asked.

"They can't be together like we are. they exist so far from each other, shining for us while burning in the loneliness themselves"

I looked at the shining stars scattered around the moon.

"that's sad."

"The universe Is sad"

"Are you?" I asked turning to face him.

"Aren't we all?" he replied, eyes still reflecting the moon's shine.

We fell into silence, watching the star filled sky above us.
