The Menelaus
By Tunir Bhattacharya
The wintry nights dawn upon the celestial sky, and the white jewels curtain the path nigh.
The road, always so rutted, got covered by the cold sway which it dusted.
But alone in the crayon-clad board, there lay a majestic Menelaus, her wings pored,
Pored with the disingenuity of the globe, the overt hatred by the men.
Pored with the repleted rife of resentment – the brilliant star in this den.
Her brilliant blue snowed under the palavers; she could only ever plead the bystanders.
But, her anguished prays remained in vain.
Her strength continually waning,
She decided to try once again through the aching.
But alas, the snowy swathe held few a visitor, aside the remorseless rain of the dazzling colour.
Her destiny, had been sealed.
Among the distant lands she lay, her situation easily vicarious, a ramification,
That could be seen in her ruby eyes, with heavy a dilation.
Her brilliant blues soon laid themselves down, and the glittering eyes soon lost their shimmer,
As her good friend slowly took away her pearl crown and gave her a good night’s murmur.
The wintry morning dawned upon the celestial sky
With the white jewels fallen upon the path nigh.
The road, always so rutted, got covered by the cold sway which it dusted.
And alone in the crayon-clad board, there lay a majestic Menelaus, her wings pored,
With the tranquillity she always wished to bore.
