The Love Of A Dog Is Karma

Updated: Jul 30

By Nikhita Rao

A lonely street at night,

And a gleaming pair of eyes.

My fear that I ooze out,

To a guttural growl that comes back.

The threat of a dog is karma,

What you run from, does attack.

A lost footing and a fall,

On a lonely mountain side.

To aid, there's no one to call,

Except the arrival of furry paws.

The counsel of a dog is karma,

To the lost, there appears an unwitting guide.

A sob in the rain goes unnoticed,

As the rain pours, so the heart sinks.

Till the warm weight of a snout,

Lifts me up afloat.

The compassion of a dog is karma,

In a stormy sea, he anchors me.

A weary day goes by,

Spent blighted hours in a fight.

Now I trudge back home,

To the sounds of pitter-patter delight.

The love of a dog is karma,

Showing that I can always love more.
