The Lost Soul

Updated: Jun 3, 2023

Let me tell you a story today

Of a man who had lost his way

For every little happiness he got

There was sadness, come what may

A bright little child in his day

An aura about him, a glowing ray

Never worried about the future

That future had the final say

Grew up with fake people, fake friends

Every relation he had only had dead ends

Every joy he had felt hollow to him

Every straight achievement had its bends

A man dejected, only lies he was told

At the rainbow's end, there was no pot of gold

It seemed for all that he had

His soul to the Devil had been sold

A panglossian he was, a foolish man

Never deterred believed in God's plan

His sadness never wavered nor did his smile

A hollow man now with the darkness he ran

He had lost all sanity, lost his wit

His spirit was gone, optimism slit

He realized that for his suffering

His story's end had been writ

Then an angel comes in times as such

A girl he had always admired very much

The girl who had now sensed her feelings

All she now wanted is to give him a cwtch

The darkness that had now become his light

That which had taken away all his fight

She had come to save him, give him her all

Bring back his smile with all her might

She bought chocolates and a bouquet

It was time for her to finally convey

The feelings inside mutual and bright

That would take all the darkness away

She entered his place hands filled grin wide

"Surprise! I love you" she joyfully cried

But all she could do was scream and weep

To the man who could not from his darkness hide

To the man whose corpse on her lap now lied
