The Lost Man
By Devansh Agarwal
Today I met a man
Searching for his house
None gave a damn
Because he wasn't an empty soda can
He was a man
He Looked broken
More alive than him was the adjacent park's snowmen
Eyes tired, beard outgrown, clothes tattered
To him finding his home was all that mattered
He walked hastily asking everyone around
All of them gave him a look as if they saw a hellhound
I asked him, 'who are you?'
He looked at me in silence
I asked if I could give him some guidence?
He still stayed mum?
I began to think, 'was this fellow dumb?'
And suddenly a cold breeze sent down my spine a shiver
I realised I was on a pavement facing a roadside barber shop's mirror...
I was the broken man
Looking for his home
Lost everything
Roaming with a false hope
I wished if someone could hug me
And let me know that I am alright
That I am not a devil
Just a light not so bright...
I'm lost, and I just can't fight...
I'm tired, I want to go home...
Everyone left me and I am all alone...
I guess I have to hug myself again on my own...
