The lost balloon

I held a balloon, bright and high,

It slipped my hand and soared the sky.

It carried a dream I hoped would stay,

But it floated away, drifting away.

I watched it drift past trees and air,

At first I felt sad, wishing it was there.

Then I stopped and thought, as it flew so free,

Some dreams must go to help us see.

Even lost, they teach us to be,

brave and open, wide as the sea.

The sky is vast, the world is new,

And sometimes letting go helps dreams come true.
