The Little Girl By The Side Of The Street

Crossing the bustling marketplace,
A sight that devoured the glow of my face
In the afternoon’s scorching heat,
I saw a little girl by the side of the street.
Wonderful innocence in her sleepless eyes,
The most terrifying insects were her allies
Her frail form laid on the burning concrete
I saw a little girl by the side of the street
With a weakness so profound,
With a yearning look, she turned around
To her, a drop of water was a luxurious sweet
I saw a little girl by the side of the street
Who had a heart colder than ice?
That cannot thaw with strife, greater than the sun’s heat twice
Someone had abandoned their girl like a garment obsolete
I saw a little girl by the side of the street
Hearts devoid of humanity
Try to conceal from responsibility
For we all just ‘see’ that little girl by the side of the street
And she remains ‘the little girl by the side of the street’
