The Late Twenties
By Pallavi Krishna
I wonder at times when am doubtful
If everything else life showed was a lie.
Was my childhood only a pretense wool
Some dreams crushed while some passions survived.
Like a plucky traveler finding the way ahead
Am set on a path life has taken mortals before.
An adult now I am all grown they said
Mind figuring while body reassured.
I loathe and smile as emotions lurk
Gave my feelings a sheepish pretext.
The late twenties welcome me with a smirk
It was like they knew what’s coming next.
I know this isn’t probably all that dense
And questioning everything around is bliss.
Those days ahead that lie unseen seem intense
But the present right now is future reminisce.
Remembering all the stories that made me who I am today.
Do I not seem more confident and willing?
To the mind of the past, I surely outweigh
This age right here can be fulfilling.
Like glistening golden cracks on a vase
I start to feel fragmented yet wholesome.
It’s taken journeys to reach this place
Let’s make the best of what we can become.
