The Last Goodbye
By Syed Mohammad Ismail Quli
With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart,
I say goodbye to you as we depart,
The final time we'll be together,
The last chapter of a love we once treasured.
The memories we shared still remain,
But they're now laced with sadness and pain,
As I try to hold back the tears in vain,
Knowing our love was never meant to sustain.
Oh, how I wish we could turn back the clock,
And fix the love that was once a rock,
But now it's just a memory to unlock,
As we say goodbye forever and take stock.
The weight of the goodbye feels so heavy,
The finality of it all feels so deadly,
As I try to come to terms with the levy,
That our love was never meant to be steady.
So here I am, with a heart that's broken,
Trying to make sense of love that's unspoken,
As the reality of our love becomes a token,
Of a love that's now forever awoken.
But even though our love is now no more,
The memory of it I'll always adore,
And the sadness of saying goodbye once more,
Is a reminder of the love we had in store.
So as I bid farewell to you, my love,
I take solace in the memories thereof,
And hope that we'll both find peace above,
As we say goodbye, the final act of our love.
