The Last Breath

With trembling fingers threaded together,

Eyes not for a second leaving each other

Where one pair held pain gleaming like glass,

And the other held peace that was tender soft,

Lips curled into fluent silence,

While twitching muscles wrote poetries of past.

They reminisced their time together through unspoken words,

A trip back to memory lane, they took,

To that one summer afternoon where they first fell in love that would forever last.

Moments passed unnoticed like thieves,

Whilst they navigated life together through happiness and griefs.

As young hands that held one another grew wrinkled and cold,

It was time to say goodbye, it was time for the hands to let go.

“C’mon darling, it’s just death” said he as the ocean of tears poured.
