The Knock That Freed Me

The knock that freed me

She knocked on my door,

not once, not twice

but multiple times in a row.

At last, I let her in

and at that moment,

I let myself out,

I was freed.

She sat across from me,

Asking

Why I called so soon?

But

all I could give

were empty words

because, in all honesty

I didn’t know,

I didn’t know why I was so impatient,

I didn’t know why I couldn’t wait for my time,

I didn’t know why I wanted the easy way out,

Although, I wish I knew

but now I’m liberated

and, it’s too late.
