The Hysterical Determination
By Alice Saini
I don’t have friends,
I was born in the arms of imaginary ones.
They watched me cry myself to sleep,
They watched me laugh away my pain.
One day,
I painted their faces, using my blood as paint.
I realized they flow in me,
That, I don’t need anyone else.
Yet another day,
I was upset.
My friends put a brush in my hand,
I drew my sadness on my bathroom door.
However,
it was an instrument to catch dreams.
No matter what you do to me,
You can’t silence my dreams.
They will scream and scream,
Their echoes will haunt you.
Besides that,
I will find peace in my own mind.
You think it’s twisted,
Because you don’t understand.
I don’t want to be normal,
I dare to be me.
You chose to conform,
I chose to fly.
