The House
By Ishnaman Singh Seth
I had started to feel suffocated in the house of my dreams,
what kept me awake at night were the endless screams.
There used to be bruises on my body when I used to wake up,
slowly my will to live started to give up.
I used to boast about how I was so brave,
but in a matter of time, this house had made me its slave.
In the mirror, I used to see spirits and ghostly figures,
which sent down my spine cold as ice shivers.
I could neither eat nor sleep,
negative thoughts inside my head used to creep.
The house had sucked all of my positivity,
and now this deep void inside me was filled with negativity.
I asked the previous owner why all of this was happening to me,
he smirked and just thanked me because now the house had a new prey and after a very long time
he could be free.
The eyes of my new tenant widened as he realized what all I had said was actually true,
as my lost words to him were “THANK YOU”.
