The Guard
By Madhurima Naskar
The more the broken a person is, the more absurd he becomes.
More valid, yet invalid to the rest of the world.
With rage from every mistake, his guard grows strong,
Impenetrable becomes his armour, he soaks every bit of all.
The perception, it grows: more severe, more sceptical.
After every war a new rule is added;
The past gets handy; it interferes each moment.
The Guard is up.
Un-bowed, un-yielding, stronger than ever.
The most absurd it is that creates the Dragon’s armour.
The victim is secured.
He now is the jailor and guards every notion. He is alone, growing bizarre.
Voices in his mind speak.
He is no longer himself. Instead, he is the Guard – aloof and broken and strong.
No one can trespass the barriers, it is cold, and harsh.
Barren lands of haloed memories!
Like the universe, the Guard’s memory stretches wide and the wounds burn deep.
Every night he repairs the wall. He cuts away all the weeds.
Now, less and less oxygen is there to breathe.
Only carbon dioxide inside the wall grows.
One goes out; one comes in.
Mercury is on the rise.
The pieces of black and white stands opposed.
Shots will be fired, the banners are about to blow.
War is about to birth.
A repercussion: Gravity is loosed.
“Help him!
The armour is suffocating.
Too many cannot be there.
The war is about to break, the host is in dismay!
Save Him!”
