The Golden Hour of Us

We were loud and full of dreams, always talking, always laughing.

Life for us was whispered plans, late night calls and shared emotions.

You were sweet with wild thoughts; I was chaste and unsure.

I trusted you implicitly, clung to your words like vines on a wall.

It was love; I am sure. Sweet and honest, innocent and heart pounding.

We were constantly pulling each other into orbit.

Timidly tracing fingers where one day we would touch uninhibited.

Stealing kisses, we folded easily into the quiet of each other.

And so, I waited.

You moved away, and still, I waited.

You called my name, I turned, elated at the sound of you.

Your hands held another entwined and steadfast.

I hid my pain, laughed gaily at your jokes.

Each word a knife plunging deeper and deeper.

I bled all over us. Red and strong,

I waved goodbye, to the boy I loved.

Watched him take the hand of the girl he loves.

We were loud and full of dreams. You were sweet, but not for me.
