The Golden Days

The unending toils..

the rigours and pain

and I waited..

for my golden days

The long I tried..

how hard I strived

they seemed far..

those glorious days

It took me long..

and long indeed

the years went past..

my fingers still crossed

The good times passed..

while I waited in vain

Too engrossed..

in my long pursuits

How utterly oblivious..

too late to realise

today is the day..

the best day of all

Each day is good..

too good to be true

with the wisdom of age..

I’ve found my golden days.
