5. The Ghosts of Moments

Love?

It arrives softly, unannounced, like sunlight slipping through a window, warming corners that never knew they were cold.

You hold it like glass, careful and reverent, until you realize the cracks were always there, and the light—it leaks through anyway.

Seasons teach us this: Spring blooms only to wither,

summer’s heat fades to amber glow, autumn dances in golden decay, and winter—it silences everything you thought would last.

But love, too, is a season.

A fleeting storm, a whisper in the quiet, a wrinkle in time you smooth out with shaking hands. You look back and realize it was never the eternity you promised yourself—just a moment dressed as forever.

And oh, how you hold on.

To echoes of laughter trapped in the walls, to the memory of someone’s hand grazing yours, to the way their voice lingered in the dark—like a hymn, like a ghost that refuses to leave. Love?

It’s the memory of their name written in your heart’s ledger, the ink smudged but still legible.

And when you stand at the edge of the river,

watching those moments float away, you whisper to the water,

“Carry them gently. I can no longer hold them.”

For love—love doesn’t end.

It transforms. It becomes a shadow you live beside,

a story you tell yourself on cold nights, a gift you unwrap in memory alone.

And when the final reverie floods in, when the world fades to twilight and silence, you’ll smile softly and think—even fleeting things can be beautiful.
