The Flower I Knew

By Akanksha Acharya

The flower I knew, was full of life,

vibrant with laughter, and delight for the eyes.

It had its innocence that worked like a charm,

and it also was cheeky, but loved by all.

The years away, were dreary alright.

Time wasn’t kind, the flower fought for life.

The soil turned toxic and hurt its roots,

the flower suffered, but tried to survive.

Until it decided, its not alright.

By the time I was there, the flower repotted itself,

in a different soil, in a different place.

It has regained its colour and will soon shine bright.

But its now a bit wary, to welcome new sights.

It has learnt its lessons and put up few walls,

the flower is now strong and won’t let anyone pull it down.

The flower shall befriend, only those genuinely nice.

The flower now knows the fake from the right.

It’ll keep growing and regain its vibrance.

And I can only hope to see,

its brilliance as it keeps growing.
