The Fire Within
By Saee Pawar
Chin up, stand up straight
Fight for your own, pull your own weight
Never needed anyone to tell her this
Her spark shone, glorious and golden
She was as radiant as the sun
As a child, so confident and poised
Never struggled with her self esteem
In her conviction, she rejoiced
To others, her life felt like a dream
Was it a really a dream, she thinks
It seems like another life now,
This reality, it appears, has taken a bow
Bent so low, she has nothing but self-doubt
All around her, a total blackout
Where did the spark go?
The spark that ignited the fire in her,
The fire that never gave up,
The fire that made her stronger
Almost dead, it is nowhere to be found
Yet a Phoenix still gracefully rises,
From the ashes on the ground
That’s how she knows, it’s not all over yet
There’s still hope,
This sun is not ready to set
Fly to the sky Phoenix, this is just a small dive
The fire within is still alive.
