The Finest Dinner

Vanilla or chocolate

the whole house smelled like an ice cream parlor

men surfing through news channels, waiting---waiting.

well, their daughters are choosing their prettiest dresses

wives wearing their most expensive and beaming jewelry

all for a plate of cucumbers and the knock-off smiles

Bone China or Ceramic

the hostess taking out her finest cutlery; seriously that is a lie

the plates and glasses depends on the price tag of the gift

wall painting and lit candles will cover the bleakness of the house

the bar stools getting cleaned for company

Water Or Wine

what would you like to have?

men having scotch with current affairs, women having wine with mockery

dishes being served and guests gobbling food as if it is their last day

all formalities completed, now the hostess rushes to see the gift

she sighs in irritation, a vase with fake flowers

the guests sigh in irritation, an awful load of food.
