The Fall
By Shaurjyadeep Ray
He’s standing on the edge of the world
Wondering if someone will catch him if he falls When he knows that no one’s by his side Not one person to talk him out of it at all
He pushed away the ones he loved
To avoid causing them that agonising pain The feeling that he lived through everyday Yet putting up a smile without any complain
He remembers trying his best everyday
To feel like one walking among them all Then he remembers how no one noticed his efforts Now all he pictures is his fall
He reminiscences about the good times he had Spontaneous laughter and late night drives Feeling at ease in the hands of his mother Sadly he knows this isn’t enough to help him survive
As the dirt and rocks come tumbling down He finally takes a step off the ground
The tears from his cheeks lifted away by gravity As he touches the seabed without a sound
All worries and thoughts escape his mind As he’s greeted by the hands of death
He wishes them well, the people he left behind As he takes up one last breath.
