The Execution of the Obsidian Void

Lights, glimmer and shine until they blind the eyes.

No matter how much the Moon glistened, it wasn’t enough.

The harder it fought, the more silver bled out, the more it cried in agony.

If these man-made stars blind the Moon, what hope is there for us below?

Is this where nature loses?

The world constantly trembles under the radiating lights as they continue to shine -

sharpen, swell as the sun rises, dismissing each day.

The weeps for millions gone-

those who have left this uncontrolled world to find the hands of God.

Does anyone wonder how we stop these lights from shining brighter than a diamond?

The more vigorous they get, the more lives are at risk.

Constant questions fill their minds, and ours, wondering if the world is ending.

Is any government listening to our voices, to stop these lights from glowing brighter each day?

They say the Sun should be the brightest light in our world.

But when the Sun goes to rest, it becomes the Moon’s job to lead the way.

Yet it can’t, it hears the suffer as the World silences itself.

Gunshots, missiles, tanks running on the remaining tears of the Sun, waiting for the last ignition.

We’ve become a world of Icaus’s sons and daughters, stitching our wings of steel with the Sun’s stolen glow.

But the wax is melting in the heat of our own engines, and the sky is too overcrowded for a subtle fall to be seen.

Now the Sun hides in its grey, restless clouds, with its golden ribs shattered, watching over us plummet over a sea of our own light.

Now Artemis wanders the dull lands of the sky, her bow broken by each glare of the billion false fires.

She cannot hunt the shadows when we have murdered the dark that she calls home.

She weeps till her fragile, glowing lunar skin peels off.

Languidly, her eyes glue shut, weeping silver as they fall like bolides to brighten our once obsidian void.

Surrendering the night to the monsters that we’ve made of the realms she once called home.

When our artificial heavens finally fade and flicker, will we even remember how to find the Moon like our ancestors once did?

Under the bleached splinters, our bodies shiver, shake.

The wind calls for help for the last time.

But this isn’t the cold. It is…
