The Evolving Generations

By Ray Bhushan

In the earlier generation of our parents and grandparents, people

used to watch shows on a television that were shaped like the box

you get as a courier nowadays. In our current generation we have

televisions that are flat and wide with more colour and more shows

than that of the ‘good old days’. But are those days really as good as

we have been told? It depends.

On one hand the previous generations had not as many advances in

technology and industry. However, that let people interact with each

other. In the current times, social meetings and gatherings are held

online and not together in person, yet we manage to advance

technology. Back then you would have to listen to the radio to listen

to music. However now with the click of a button we have music at

our fingertips whether it be by speaker or phone. Back then if you

wanted to call someone there would a be a phone that was large,

not easily portable and it took forever to connect, though it got the

job done, Now we have phones that fit in our pockets and can be

held in the space of our palms. And we carry the clock, the internet,

the bank, email, the video recorder, the camera and so much more

through all the applications that are in our phones today.

In the previous generation most specially the 1970’s ,1980’s and the

1990’s new things that led to the creation of the current generation

had risen up.

In its own way the generations are together intertwined as without

the previous generation we would not have the current one and the

current one helps us understand what mistakes and virtues were

made in the previous one. Generations will continue to change and

evolve over time and hopefully the next one will be even better than

the last. The intent is not to criticize or belittle one generation over

the other, but to embrace change with open arms, to accept that

things will always continue to evolve, that technology will make

things smaller, better and faster. But the important thing is to put in

the required time and effort to maintain the human relationships, to

take time out to spend with loved ones, and to maintain the right

balance of human and technology.
