The Elevator

By Parisha Kiran Bhatia

The silent stares in the elevator

They act like the heartbeat accelerator.

The twinkle in your eye was love communicator.

Seeing your smile my brain turned into an imaginator.

Suddenly I wondered are you a traitor?

Both of us in the elevator again, standing immobile

How I wished you could kiss say I love you and smile

But you were standing there, at a distance of a mile.

The wait for your kiss, it was all worthwhile

Because you noticed me and gave me that million dollar smile.

This time in the elevator you greeted me hey miss,

And this time I confessed my feelings I reminisce.

You shied and looked away; oh, I thought I was foolish

But you turned around, pulled me close and leaned in for a kiss.

Oh, that day, that moment, that gaze wasn’t it a bliss?
