The Disorderly Emotions of Robert Layne
By Vihaan Kulkarni
This is not me
This is not happening
The sky lost its contrast
The blues are faded
The red is wiped
Yellows, Pinks all are swiped
The painter in the sky is lost
The glow is gone and the sun is waiting for the frost
The wind gets colder
As my body shrinks under the weight of the massive boulder
The boulder is pressing fast
To meet the expectations are long last
The body shivers for a break
As the winter is colder than the fakes
Friends, Family are there but till when
The long last sense of alienation has just begun
The skies will go the ocean loses its blue
As the night approaches I miss the few
Few people in life are angelic
The way, the talk, and the move is enough for my stomach to panic
The joy, the laughs, the tears, the hug of warmth
I shake when I see the future that lies beforth
The episodes of depression, anxiety gets worse
The nights I sleep I hope that life wasn’t a curse
The endearment towards the ones I care
Makes me want to go through life like a hare
Skin is glowing, my eyes shine
Feel like the child inside of me is back from the shrine
The painter is back from his break
As the sky is as beautiful as the Wular Lake
The lingering ghost of my past still holds still
As the faded white man goes through my will
The faded white man is nobody else but the past
As he sails away raising his mast.
As my time comes to an end
I lie in my in bed waiting
Waiting for my dearest friend.
I sense a bright light burning my eyes
As I wake up to my suprise
I see Robert Layne right before my eyes
The angsty, depressed soul
I cry out as my eyes are swol
The person I see is a reflection
The reflection of the old me.
I hug Robert Layne as he does the same
To pass on this body is life’s game.
I shutter for a second as my body ascends
I am free again as the birds and stop the game of pretend.
Past, Present and The Future are nothing but synonyms of the universe
I close my eyes to realize what I deserve.
“I deserve peace” said Robert Layne
As his soul ascends to a higher plane.
