The Countryside

By Arlene Nayak

I walk across the countryside

Looking o’er the everlasting fields

As the melodious tunes of a robin

Hit my longing ears.

The river flows ever serenely

Through the undergrowth

The gay flowers grow ‘round the well

As the cows graze on the pasture.

The horses gallop through the fields

The ol’ farmhouse full of grains

The apple trees bear the sweetest

of fruit

And the bees buzz all day.

The mountain tops are covered in green

With specks of pink and white

The air is fresh and smells of daisies

The countryside is full of joy.
