The City
By Vedant Dhanjal
There was fire in the lanes –
The lanes of heart.
Yet, the residing blood was cold.
The invader had trampled the streets,
Ruining with each step, a piece of peace –
The peace that was unbreachable.
Yet, the residing blood was calm.
She used the candle in the friendly dinner
To torch the town –
The town that welcomed her.
Yet, the residing blood was unaffected.
The city went dark by the betrayal,
And grey clouds reigned the skies –
The skies that were pink with love.
Yet, the residing blood was red.
