The Call Of The Ocean
By Kumud Dhankhar
From childhood's hour I had not been like everyone else - so keen From the cuckoo's song until the day had been The tide was all that I longed to have seen
It arose & fell so gallantly & reminded me of who I had been staring down my lone balcony This strange dance of grief and joy took me back to when I was a boy the waves always make me aware of these feeling's little love affair
I long to set sail in still waters but soon enough my heart gets worn for all I see are thunderstorms
Sometimes from across the shore I feel a whisper float to my door The waves splash into my heart
Moving like a work of art
The heavens weep for me to see myself in a house by the sea To swim away in morbid hours & let myself be overpowered
The water sweeps over my feet
and the seaweed too calls for me
surrounding me where I stand
taking me away from this wretched land
