The Bearded Moon
By Adithi Banerjee Tarafdar
The Bearded Moon
Was looking at the moon
The other night
My peculiar imagination
Crafted an image in mind.
What if the moon
Had a white, flowing beard
And a white mane to match
Just like you?
You laughed poet
Listening to the silly me;
Funny, how I compared
The moon to you?
It brightens the sky
And so did you.
You brought the world's focus
To our doorsteps
Yes, you did that
And yes, we revere you.
I think, you know
You still live
Amongst all of us
Through all that you created
We still live you, breathe you.
Sing your songs
And read you.
Visualize you through your drama and theatre
Celebrate you through dances and skits
So it won’t be bad, POET
If I could paint a picture
Of the moon,
Where the moon
Looked, just like you.
