The Astro Break
By Shreyash Anand
To my pumpkin,
I and my friends climbed up the terrace,
Though we all used to be total menace,
We all sat quietly gazed at the sky,
And admired the suns so far and high.
When the lights went down on a new moon night,
The shimmering stars, fill the time with light.
The moon seemed to be incomplete without stars,
The rock in the sky with beautiful scars.
I once had a thought,
Remembering about the stars all that I was taught,
That how come we exist in this endless space,
Living on a rock and in solace.
The world we live in is a little too small,
A round rock ball, covered in an airy shawl.
Estelle in the sky, glowing with all its glory,
Each one telling its own separate story.
Each one of the stars,
Gives us the realization,
That we’re not made by god,
but an accidental creation.
Not some white guy with a beard,
But an alien rock,
Created this place,
About which we always talk.
The moon always multiplies their splendor,
The stress in our eyes becoming tender.
There was time when we thought,
That meteors were shooting stars,
As if the night sky was crying,
Displaying all its sorrow and scars.
I sometimes stare in wonder,
That the mighty sky shows its agony as thunder.
How come we forget how small we are,
In this huge universe full of stars.
There will be a time when stars will be no more,
But that time is far,
because we won’t remain,
On this rock anymore.
The burning providers of heat,
To beings out on alien street.
My heart just melts gazing in the night sky,
The stars making my heart sway,
But with the human lights always remaining turned on,
It starting to not be that way.
My love for the celestial sparkle can’t be measured,
The admiration for these gas balls should forever be treasured.
Even if God made this, what a thing did he make?
For which he set a time to die, all waiting for the Astro Break.
