The Adulthood Song
By Riddhi Oza
Take a step forward, leading two steps back the ride which we enjoyed once, of it, now we are afraid knowing too much is a sin, it seems and knowing just a bit, is a shameful thing the turmoil of heart is secondary now, heartbreaks seem so basic! goals become fictious, success the only terminus… oh adulthood! What is this phase? where we struggle to be decent, and crave to be famous?
Losing dreams, waving goodbye to friends… so many things to think, so little time to feel hustle and hustle. till we reach but ending up nowhere, and so we screech!
Beauty goals, life lessons, influencers, what a struggle! wrapped in envy, using competition as our phone covers hoping to be real, but being fake on social media handles
Teenage was tough it seemed, but juvenile is real and sick, you want to escape, and live down the hills didn’t we all had this dream? when we reached 23?
Dreams more than sky tops, and will as small as your smallest pinky toe outdone by many, but ahead of some in the rat race, so many friends we lost
growing old and growing apart, seems like a side of two coins as time tosses with our lives, we become better with living in tenderloin
Afraid, scary, young but growing uncertain and confident, all while learning
influencers influencing, running for that train bidding goodbye to your best friend, while they start their own journey, and you on your tunes are still keep dancing
Thirst of money, lack of peace… realizing the reverence of family, ambiguous to what you should be tired and exhausted, what a never ending spree!
Compromised ethics, a guilt sentient heavy baggage and a confused mindset look adulthood, what you have done to the timid heart, it is now rock, wanting to be eroded, but knows once eroded, it will tear apart! mind is lost, in the rush to be strong the inner child is gone, As I sing the bittersweet, adulthood song! Wrapped in a cardigan of chaos, I lead my way… oblivion to peace, but know to slay!
I work and work, grow each day but the arcane in my heart stays, stuck between wanting to quit, and start a new journey, walk a new lane… after all life and dreams never had an age…
