That Night I Failed.
By Krishna Mohan
A broken voice said “father” in a call,
;Be strong” advised the women I loved.
Helpless was me where I was,
All I could think was how could it be.
A thousand promises unfulfilled,
Along with a few hundred regrets I pioneered.
What am I to do in this hour so late, I did not know,
When I was reasoned “you have nothing to do”.
There lay wrapped two time zones away,
In a wet bitter evening, among his truest kin.
The aggregate of the failure called me,
With ever so clarity and absolute certainty.
A hundred so called concerned sent their “Hi”
“Be brave” they said, “Happens” they related.
For me everything that hour was gibberish,
All I could do was answer the call and say “Hello”.
Never will I see the man who was once my world,
And never again shall I see the world through his plain eyes.
Nevermore will I hug him or kiss him goodbye,
As I stay stranded in this desert with no right to leave.
It is as eventual as sunrise that all beings has to face
Just like the day when he let go of your bike the first time.
But never did I beg in my my life a bit more time,
Except When I stood null, in that night I failed.
