Thank You
By Meher Randeria
My feet are cold and red
From the draft at the end of the bed.
The monster of my dreams,
Is lurking right under me.
Tears trickle from my eyes,
They never ever lie.
My chest is tight-
Can’t breathe right.
Dark luggage I carry along,
Humming the most melancholy song.
Does it ever end?
This constant need to fend.
Everlasting happiness:
Makes me sick.
It’s not them,
Just makes me tick.
Then, with a mop of curls,
And warm brown eyes,
Which would usually make me hurl,
Comes over and from up high.
“Hello.”
She offers with a small smile.
“Hello.”
Feeling the urge to run a mile.
But that’s what it took:
A smile with a ‘Hi’,
Like straight out of a book-
Sent me on a high.
One year later,
Swinging on a star!
Never felt better.
Can even drive a car!
Feeling the tears again,
Streaming down my face.
But, not as it began-
But under a fond gaze.
