Thank You
By Adonia Meriyam Daniel
Thank you for showing me how warm yellow is.
Thank you for showing me the depth of the ocean.
Thank you for loving me like the infinite sky, boundless.
Thank you for the pretty sunflowers and the sunrise we watched on an early january morning.
Thank you for all the gentle hugs and kisses that still lingers on like faint memories of the good times.
Thank you for teaching me what love is and what it’s like to be loved.
Thank you for all the sleepless night, dreaming of us; you and I, gray and old, running on 70.
Thank you for all the laughs shared and the tears shed.
Thank you for teaching me how to love myself and for reminding me time after time, how beautiful I was, inside-out.
Thank you for loving me unconditionally, without judgement, even when I was at my worst.
Thank you for holding my hands and saying we’ll get through it even when when we knew the future seemed uncertain.
Thank you for being my best friend, my confidant, my diary.
Thank you for being my sunshine.
Now, without you, I’m trying to brave the storms... all alone, aimlessly navigating with a love that I’d wait for eons to give.
But, even amidst the chaos, I find solace in the night sky; the glimmering orb, a speck of hope…
The dark, inky skies make the brightest stars; this too shall pass, prophecies my heart.
