The sweet sound of “From Eden” on repeat,
all summer long on a CD,
Kiss marks of a cool night keep me still,
the crackling fires and melted marshmallows,
burn my eyes and make my face sticky.
Opened the curtain to golden honey
singing through my windows,
The sun staining bedrooms a deep orange,
a warm embrace
Old paperbacks in purses, the yellow,
spotted pages slicked to each other,
The in between of the woody citrus smell of summer
A digital camera at the beach,
and sandy gingerbeer on my lips
The click clacks of jelly sandals and blistered heels,
the tank tops of tomorrow
I’d like to know the music of your hips,
I’d want to see you in true darkness,
Where the stars merge with city skies,
Some form of collision, just as our hands could
Only then would I see what you mean,
And the trickling twilight over our eyes
would keep us unblinded for the first time.
I can hold your hollow heart,
And we could stroll down the empty boardwalk
Until sunrise’s eyes takes nights place
And the early lady bugs could land on my hair,
Maybe you could brush her out and put her on my fingers
But I digress,
