Sunset's Over
By Shanthanu Venugopal
I see spirits
Figments of imagination
Apparitions that roam the corners of the mind
Invitations from walking fascinations
Only to find that fear resides inside
That which keeps me from you
That keeps me from being true
Crude behavior to make myself seem like someone’s savior
A layer of viscous desire, the fireman lights the fire
I wait for meaning in sunsets
Rhythmic deep breaths that the sky sets
Love struck and yet my heart’s in pieces,
Never content with my content keep trying to iron out the creases
It never ceases to amaze, the maze, the mind, the kind of finite,
Opportunity that is required to provide the perfect song, lyric, and melody
To remedy all of my ailments.
Every friday evening my brains are battered out on the pavement
Waiting for the return payment, for all my practice, and soul shards,
it's so hard and never satisfactory, but the alternative is monotony
A cataclysmic catastrophe, placed into my morning meal, taken out the seal,
The price of creativity of is the depravity that comes from a lack of productivity
If I wasn’t working what would I be doing?
What could I be doing instead of constantly stepping on to stage
And proving that I’ve got something and create magic from nothing
That one thing that you’re looking for I can conjure and I am willing
I’ll share my despair, all my pain, and anger to ensure that this will transpire
I give my word, my honor, cut ties with all that I could have instead And offer myself to this art’s bed, my heart conquers my head, And I travel this road till I'm dead.
