Sunbound

A strong pillar holding my life.

So near, yet so far.

The sun in my sky, lighting my life.

I don’t look up, but I know the sun shines.

We grew up in the same nest, warm and tight.

It was beautiful, but it passed so quickly.

I was small for him, always in his eye,

But he always wanted me to grow up steadily.

It was never easy for me with him.

It was tough, and the bar was high to achieve.

I had to work to be perfect, or at least close.

No chance for mistakes — I had no permit.

My desire was always to impress him.

Not an easy task, but I can make it.

Even slight praise lifts me up.

He is one of a kind — not easily found.

Lightning strikes unexpectedly.

Sometimes it is thunderstormy and gloomy.

I stand still, even with great difficulty,

And it settles faster than a long drought.

He is wise and calm, mostly.

Sometimes he rushes into things and is clumsy.

But whatever he does, he plays smartly

He is my superhero then, and now, forever I see.
