Stumbling Blocks of Adolescence
By Prithvi Gupta
Neither a child Nor an adult.
I am in a phase
Where understanding myself is difficult.
So many changes occur, Bodily and inwardly.
I am in a phase,
In which, some are splendid and some require therapy,
Happiness and disappointment March towards us, holding hands. I am in a phase,
Where youngsters have great demands.
We start becoming conscious, About ourselves and our physique. I am in a phase,
Where attention of others is what we seek.
Ups and downs come, Like in a checkered field. I am in a phase,
Where sometimes we are vulnerable and just require a shield.
Fights become a customary occurrence, “I am right” and “They are wrong”,
I am in a phase,
Where these words continuously ring in our heads like a gong.
Whatever our parents say, We often don’t adhere.
But I’m sure, when we grow up,
We’ll acknowledge what they had feared.
Losing focus is very easy, At this growing age.
I am in a phase,
Where we feel like a bird in a cage.
We get involved in social media,
Not developing skills in communication. I am in a phase,
Where most of us have virtual relations.
Introversion becomes our nature,
And we feel agitated talking to others. I am in a phase,
Where sometimes we become harsher.
Crushes and attraction Also accompany us.
I am in a phase,
Where our emotions are in a fuss.
Parties and friends also come,
On the contrary of all these troubles. I am in a phase,
That is like an unsolvable puzzle.
All in all, I’ll say,
That we get a new point of view. I am in a phase,
That everyone has gone through.
