Struggle

You grew fast through August

But then it became slow.

Your petals started folding in

When the earth lay covered by snow.

Still you held on for days

With bravery in your eyes.

And a struggle till the next time

Warmth would pass you by.

But some things are beyond reach

So it was the one you’d feared.

After months of fighting

As you finally disappeared.

And if you believe that’s tragic

It’s more than what you think.

For still those that lose to the cold

Do when summer is on the brink.
