Story from college time about my father wisdom!
Original Submission by Preety nain
This is a story when I was in college. After completion of my college when my father suggested to see me a boy for marriage. I said that I don’t want to get married for next 2 years .
My father said okay but my siblings, who are very narrow minded about the concept of love marriage, started using their investigation over my life. They found a shayari/ few lines of poetry in my messenger sent by a college friend. They showed it to my father and said that’s why she is denying the marriage.
My father asked me directly if I like someone . I said no then my father asked about the poetry and that person.
I replied , he is just a friend. I don’t like someone. I am seriously not interested in anyone or in marriage.
Then my father suggested me very calmly that you are right at your place. It is true you don’t have any interest/attraction to anyone but stop giving ur time to any of your friend if you feel they are interested in you.
May be you never get interested in anyone but anyone can get attached to you if you are too good with them.
And that will be more worst to handle. Respect others feelings too and never give chance to anyone to get attachment if you are not interested in them.
And those words hit me hard. I always thought that I am very fair with others.
Also I respect others proposal by saying a fair no honestly without any explanation.
But at that time, I realised that no matter how much honesty I have , if anyone get hurt by my no then somewhere I have hurt them unintentionally.
After then I kept myself at a distance from every male friend/classmates just not giving any chance of attachment .
I went offline from every kind of social media for 2 months to give peaceful holidays and solitude to my mind. I removed my sim from phone and left my phone to my father so that He too get relax about everything. I understood very clearly that I have no right to hurt anyone who do have attachment & respect for me by liking me.
Maybe we were at a different timeline in life but still nothing is more above than my feelings or anyone else feelings.
And that’s how my father has become the hero of my life by teaching me right things at every stage of life. He showed me mirror without showing any dramatic reaction in a very straight way!
I think that it should be the responsibility of every parents to teach their children a proper line, proper respect for others too.
And this responsible attitude of setting boundaries in my surroundings helps me always to live a peaceful life.
I really consider myself very lucky to have an open minded and wise father!
